The thyroid gland is located at the base of your neck and produces a hormone that influences every cell, tissue, and organ in the body. It may be small, but it can have a big impact on your health and wellbeing, influencing how fast your heart beats, how quickly your body burns calories and even your mood and fertility. The Standard Thyroid Test measures both thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and Free T4 (thyroxine) in your blood to assess thyroid function. It screens for specific thyroid health conditions such as underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) and overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).
