A urinalysis, or urine test, is a panel of tests that can help detect and manage a variety of disorders. It examines urine for its appearance, concentration, and content, including its color, odor, pH level, and substances that aren't normally present. A urinalysis is often performed during a checkup, before surgery, or if you're pregnant or admitted to the hospital. Because it's easy, cheap, and productive, it's recommended as part of the initial examination of all patients. A urinalysis can be used to: - Screen for disease As part of a routine medical exam, a urinalysis can help identify early signs of disease. -Monitor conditions A urinalysis can monitor conditions like diabetes, kidney disease, bladder cancer, or sexually transmitted infections. -Diagnose conditions A urinalysis can help diagnose urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney or liver disease, or bleeding in the urinary system. -Check for substances A urinalysis can check for substances that aren't normally present in urine, such as blood, too much protein, glucose, ketones, and bilirubin. For example, high urine pH can indicate kidney issues or UTIs, while low urine pH can indicate diabetes-related ketoacidosis or diarrhea. *Additional Lab fees may apply if Urine Culture is required
